Your information and choices
HopSignals Privacy Policy
HopSignals is operated by Synapse AI Group LLC.
This Privacy Policy describes the types of information HopSignals may process, why it may be used, when it may be disclosed, and the choices available to users. The information involved depends on the features you choose to use.
Information you provide
Depending on the features you use, you may choose to provide:
- An email address, username, account identifiers, and authentication or account information.
- Beer taste-profile responses and preferences, including preferred styles, flavors, bitterness, strength or alcohol-by-volume preferences, and exploration preferences.
- Beer ratings, journal entries, tasting notes, brewery selections, and beer selections.
- Photos or images you choose to provide, including beer menu images.
- Questions, prompts, or messages sent to conversational beer features.
- Support communications and information you include in a privacy or account request.
Location information
Nearby brewery discovery and location-relevant recommendation features may use a location you provide manually, such as a city or region, or device location when you grant permission. This information may be used to identify nearby breweries, present locally relevant beer options, and personalize recommendations using available local context.
You can control device location permission through your device settings. Turning off location access may limit nearby features, and you may discontinue use of optional location features.
Subscription information
If subscriptions are offered, purchases may be processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. HopSignals may receive subscription status, product or tier information, entitlement status, and purchase-related identifiers needed to provide and manage access.
HopSignals does not receive or store a user's full payment-card number from Apple or Google. Store billing and payment-card processing are handled by the applicable platform, subject to its terms and privacy practices.
How information is used
HopSignals may use information as reasonably necessary to:
- Operate and maintain user accounts.
- Create personalized taste profiles and generate recommendations.
- Improve recommendations based on user choices, ratings, notes, and other activity.
- Show nearby breweries and beer options.
- Maintain beer journals and other user-requested content.
- Provide user-requested AI-assisted features.
- Respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests.
- Manage subscription entitlements.
- Protect service reliability, integrity, and security; prevent misuse; and debug application issues.
- Comply with applicable legal requirements and enforce applicable terms.
Service providers
HopSignals may use service providers to support cloud hosting, databases and storage, authentication, AI processing, subscription entitlement management, error monitoring, email delivery, and other infrastructure required to operate the service. These providers may process information on behalf of HopSignals to perform their services. Their processing may also be governed by their own terms and privacy practices where they interact directly with users.
AI processing
When you request AI-assisted features, prompts, beer menu content, images, relevant profile context, or related information may be sent to AI service providers as necessary to fulfill the request. Only submit content you are comfortable using with that feature, and avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in beer-assistant prompts, images, or messages.
How information may be shared
HopSignals may disclose information:
- To service providers acting on behalf of the service.
- When you direct or authorize the disclosure.
- When reasonably necessary to protect security, prevent fraud, investigate misuse, or protect users and others.
- When required by law or a valid legal process.
- In connection with a legitimate merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.
HopSignals does not currently sell personal information to third parties.
Data retention
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate an account, provide requested services, meet security and fraud-prevention needs, satisfy legal obligations, and resolve disputes. The appropriate period depends on the type of information and why it is processed.
When a valid account-deletion request is completed, associated account data will be deleted except where retention is reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or another legitimate obligation.
Account deletion
You may request deletion of your HopSignals account using the instructions at https://www.hopsignals.com/delete-account/. Account deletion is different from canceling an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Subscription billing may need to be canceled separately through the store where it was purchased.
Privacy choices
You may adjust device permissions in your device settings, discontinue use of optional features, contact HopSignals with a privacy question, or request account deletion. Some choices may limit the operation of features that depend on the relevant information.
Children's privacy and legal drinking age
HopSignals is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to HopSignals, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
Security
HopSignals seeks to use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information processed. No method of transmission, storage, or service operation is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as HopSignals evolves or legal requirements change. When a material revision is made, the “Last updated” date displayed above will be changed. Additional notice may be provided when appropriate.
